I feel privileged to say that I have been an artist my whole life.

 

I’ve been fortunate to have been constantly surrounded by people who encouraged my art. As a kid I drew a book based on a pencil named Henry -- yes, a pencil -- and its journey as it grew smaller.  And, I guess that's where it all began.

 

Because drawing and painting came to me naturally, in later years I was able to go to art school.  And, amazingly enough, I've had a very successful and rewarding career spanning three decades as a graphic artist because of my passion for all things art.

 

Ultimately, it was graphic design that motivated me to pursue painting as a serious career in the arts.  In fact, my journey has included myriad techniques using pencil, watercolors, oils and stained glass.  These days I work predominantly in water-based oil paint and, even more recently, I’ve been working in smaller watercolors.

 

My work has been showcased in juried shows in Massachusetts and New York, and I've also been an active painter and committee member at the Copley Society of Art in Boston.

 

I like to capture those often-overlooked elements in our daily routines.  In the right light, or angle, these somewhat mundane cityscapes -- from building facades to vintage signs -- come to life for me and I feel moved to capture those perspectives and share them.

 

When I see that same sense of intrigue and delight in a person's reaction to my art, as when I first experienced the subject myself, it's at those moments when I feel the most fulfilled and rewarded.

 

And to think, it all started with a pencil.
